For the past two nights my dreams have been filled with cruise ships and exotic beaches.
I think my soul is aching for the sea.
Have an adventure to Florida planned in a couple of weeks, hopefully my brain doesn't torture me every night between now and then.

Make-up Time
Got a beach fix (kinda) this weekend.
We (the manfolk, the Maid of Honor, and JRay) went to Padre Friday morning and came back Saturday night. Had to do something to make up for the fact that we didn't get to travel as originally scheduled.
Time actually on the beach was minimal because the wind was gusting to 45 mph. Though the sand did fully exfoliate all of us.
Had a blast, barely spent any money and got to be by the water.
HAPPY

Beach Fix
Got some beach fix. Dennis, the manfolk and I drove (yes drove) my favorite intern from North Texas back to school in Daytona Beach this weekend and rewarded ourselves with a few days on the beach. Originally supposed to fly back yesterday afternoon and was just so happy where we were we decided to stay the night and fly back at the crack of dawn this morning.
The only bad part is the day is dragging. Got back to Texas at 955 and was in meetings by 1020. Such. A. Long. Day.

It has been decided...
Got tired of fighting the beach bug.
Found a cruise that goes to the Caribbean in October and gave it to the manfolk for his birthday last week. I am so freaking excited that I can barely wait (and yes it is a present for me as well).

Scuba certification weekend one is complete and I didn't drown (and neither did my dive buddy). Just makes me that much more excited. Now to focus on passing class and going to the gym and saving some cash for the what is sure to be expensive bar bill.

I tried
I tried the lake too. It just doesn't work. Beach withdrawal in full force.
That's it. I'm finding a vacation this week.
Good birthday present for the manfolk.

Beach withdrawal
Saw this as a friend's Facebook status today and couldn't help but feel for her: "Person I'm Not Going To Name is so deep into beach withdrawal I hug my TV every time the Corona commercial comes"
I am suffering from beach withdrawal. We have been trying to supplement it with pool time but it is just not quite doing it for me. We had a laundry incident so the man is currently looking to replace his passport. I am doing my part by frantically searching for all inclusive beach deals online that we can take advantage of once the new one arrives and my scuba certification is complete.

Must... fight... the... urge
I have discovered that I am a runner as far as relationships go. Didn't know it before because I was in one the whole time, but now that I am out and things are different I have learned this about myself. Something goes wrong (wrong = not the way I want or requiring too much from me emotionally) and I would rather just bolt and move on than fight it out.
Could be dangerous if I don't get a hold of it.
Been working on patience -- this is part of it.
It had better be worth it because it would definitely be easier to bail and go put my toes in the sand* and grab a cold beer and move on.
*I have a passion for the beach. When I first moved into my apartment I said that all it was missing was the beach. So a really good friend of mine came over with a beach the next day and installed it on my patio. I have good people in my life.

On the adventure front
I think I've found something to look forward to... but there is a back story.
Last February I had just moved out and really had a lot going on, and no washer and dryer. So each Sunday I found myself on my brother's recliner doing my laundry and watching movies we have seen a thousand times and drinking beer and talking about life. Well, we are both fans of beaches and adventures and Jimmy Buffett. So we decided to task ourselves with going to every Jimmy Buffett store/cafe and getting a tshirt specific to that location. We started with the first Margaritaville, Key West (see earlier post). Like I said, it was an awesome time. My good friend Dennis joined us (one of my closest friends on the planet who also happens to have a passion for Boat Drinks) and we laid out some rules:
1. It was decided that in order for these adventures to occur all three of us have to be there. That has been a challenge, as often one or two of us are in a town with a Margaritaville without the others and don't dare even enter the establishment. Other people can join us (Toots and Hair went with us to Key West) and the manfolk was there for Orlando, but the three of us HAVE to be there.
2. We must accomplish 3 or more shirts per year (we failed in 2009 with a whopping two).
So, on to this year. On the way back from lunch today I called my brother and we decided on the next t-shirt adventure, we are going for a record four shirts at once. Should be quite random and really the adventure will be a success if we get even one. Time to iron out the details and put it on the calendar...

Son of a beach...
I need a vacation. Actually, I need a beach vacation. Last year at this time I did a random trip to Key West with my brother and some friends and it was an absolute blast. The weather wasn't that great but we got just enough sun for some time on the beach (see inset picture) and just had an all around great time in that cool little town.
Additionally, I find that if I have something to look forward to I tend to be in a 'happier' place. So I need to start planning. Luckily the new manfolk likes the beach as much as I do, so it won't be too difficult to wrestle him into a sandy adventure.
