Beer & Bacon

Some of themanfolk's really good friends are throwing us a wedding shower tomorrow. The theme: Beer and Bacon.

I know that they have been his friends for years (forever really - they are a second family), but they must really love me because those are two of my very very favorite things.

I'm super excited. mmmm.... bacon....

Happy Admin Day!

As someone who used to be an administrative assistant - admins should be spoiled. They put up with more crap than anyone in an office and get the least amount of praise. I have showered mine with flowers and gift cards and cards and I just hope they don't quit because a person who has the attitude and wherewithal to do that job is just incredibly difficult to find (especially for what we pay).

Since I mentioned it....

BatShitCrazy got engaged. Wow. It just gets better and better.

I may have to start a blog just about her.

Or maybe just repost her craziness and myspace wanna be pictures.

Either way, i need to document it for 1. when things go bad and the police want to interview me or 2. when I get a book deal based on her life.

Happy Easter

Headed to themanfolk's parents for lunch and then keeping our standing date with the extended family for some grillin', beer and washers.

I made the dreadful mistake of skipping Easter festivities with the extended family one year (got a 5 day cruise deal for less than $200 and couldn't pass it up) and was severely admonished. It will never happen again. And I'm ok with that.As much fun as I had on the cruise, I still appreciate the annual Easter gathering even more.

Click here for a little treat for those of you who can't stand humans in bunny costumes.

This is one of my favorites.

Speaking of Facebook

My stepmonster has brought a lot of things to the lives of my brothers and I. It's been an interesting ride.

One of the best things that she has brought with her is her crazy Louisana backwoods family. It's fantastic to watch and Facebook has made it real time for us. I have two favorites. BatShitCrazy and Shoulda'run (names have been changed to protect the innocent).

The backstory:

Shoulda'run is a very sweet person. She got knocked up by Crazystepbrother (the part time trucker) and they got married in my dad’s backyard a couple years ago. Well, she had the sweetest little boy but he has a lot of serious medical issues (including downs). As soon as my super classy step brother found out the baby had medical issues (which, statistically you could have bet on considering she was like 45 when she had him) he demanded that there was no way it could be his child(asshole). So… they’ve been off again on again since then (5 years ish?) but neither have the money to get divorced. She will generally rant about Crazystepbrother and is also friends with BatShitCrazy, often tries to talk sense into her (HILARIOUS).

My stepmother and father are still very close to here and dote on the kiddo - they come to Texas to visit a couple of times a year and we love to see him. Crazystepbrother has pretty much been disowned, but is also on Facebook and his snippets tend to be extremely interesting and contain some of the worst grammar I've ever encountered.

BatShitCrazy is my step mother's niece by her second (or third?) husband. At the ripe old age of 15 she got impregnated by a 20 year old man, who also happened to be half black (you can guess how well that part went over in the backwoods). Well, he went to jail and she moved in with a 40 year old man. While that man was supporting her she got knocked up by a local unemployed friend (part Mexican - again, grandma nearly had a heart attack). So she's 20 and has two kids, no job (got fired as a cook at the bowling alley for 'political reasons') and her 40 year old boyfriend who was supporting the two kids that aren't his has, for some reason, decided to kick them all out.

OMG (I don't use that often but it seems appropriate here) just a glimpse at her Facebook makes you feel better about your life and shake your head amazement. The supporting characters through out make it even better. It's a train wreck. Littlest brother and I have a couple of friends that didn't believe that BatShitCrazy was real -- they now follow her on Facebook.

The reason this came up... Sunday BatShitCrazy said that she was swearing off using Facebook (that happens monthly-ish and generally lasts about 15 minutes) but this time she actually hasn't posted anything since - we were just lamenting the loss of entertainment and toying with the idea of starting a petition to get her back on.

Follow-up to the Probing....

Results are in from the Probing ...

Doc called. Test results showed no cancer or pre-cancer cells. Did have some inflamed cells so they are putting me on an antibiotic, then back to visit in 6 months.

Whew... that's a load off.

Only issue - antibiotics disrupt my sex life. I've dreampt twice that I got pregnant before thewedding and it scared the poo out of me. So, much to our dismay - no lovins when antibiotics may be counteracting my birth control.

And Dennis - if you are reading this it is your own fault because this time I remembered to do the NSFD tag.

It's my Friday

Don't know why, but I am so freakin' excited to have four days off in a row I can barely stand it. Don't have anything big planned (except a Rangers game tonight and then Easter shenanigans with manfolk family and my extended family on Sunday) but I am totally excited about it.

Facebook etiquette?

I'm a little lost sometimes on Facebook etiquette... For instance, my ex-husband's sister (so my ex-sister-in-law) had a baby this morning and I hesitated commenting on the picture she posted. All I wanted to say was congrats, and I hesitated. Weird. Haven't had any direct communication with that sister since I moved out except for a few emails she sent right after the fact. Oh well, she's still my Facebook friend so I went ahead and posted. What's the harm in that? The ex might hate my guts, but she must not or she would have unfriended me two years ago (although I'm sure it made for excellent stalking on their side when I first left or a good resource if they want to know what's going on with me now).

We shall see if I lose a few friends after this... who knows what people are thinking and I don't want to over think it any more than I already have, I just wanted to say congratulations.

Attire

Need to find some attire for the attendants in our wedding. Hmmm... simple, on the beach, all guys... shouldn't be too difficult.

Though it apparently is for some folks...

I was due...

Got my first speeding ticket in a decade last night. Deserved because I speed all of the time. Really sneaky the way it was set up, but what can you do. Part of the issue is that the town I got pulled over in (they have too much money) has put in roundabouts (fancy, and none of them use it right) and I had just transitioned from a 40mph road through the roundabout to a section of the next road about a 1/2 mile long that is only 30mph. I had maintained speed and got busted 13 mph over.

Sucks because there goes a small chunk of cash set aside for wedding things and fun, but that's how it goes. Sounds like this will be cheaper than my last one... In 2000 I was stopped by a State Trooper driving from Lubbock to Dallas and was clocked (I saw him first which saved me) going 25 miles over. Nearly had to sell a kidney to pay the fine on that one and he probably could have taken me to jail but didn't waste his time because we were in the middle of NOWHERE (which, anyone who has driven Lubbock to anywhere knows, is most of the drive.

Manfolk was kind enough to make a foursquare checkin at the place where I stopped (butthead). Hope never to be the mayor there.

Thanks for the candy...

Happy Monday from Dane Cook... Just click here and watch....

Make-up Time

Got a beach fix (kinda) this weekend.

We (the manfolk, the Maid of Honor, and JRay) went to Padre Friday morning and came back Saturday night. Had to do something to make up for the fact that we didn't get to travel as originally scheduled.

Time actually on the beach was minimal because the wind was gusting to 45 mph. Though the sand did fully exfoliate all of us.

Had a blast, barely spent any money and got to be by the water.

HAPPY

Out of office

This is pretty much what I expect when I am out of the office for days at a time.

Probed...

Went to the doc this morning to follow up on the abnormal stuff (mentioned here). They did what they do and decided to biopsy two areas. Results to follow in two (LONG) weeks.

On a side note, I had a 930 appointment which I was on time for. At 940 they took me back and had me disrobe. At 1037 the doctor finally showed up. WTH? I pretty much have frostbitten butt cheeks from sitting on the metal table for nearly an hour.

Prominently posted in their waiting room is a sign that tells you if you are 15 minutes late you have to reschedule... but if you are on time and the doc is late there is no penalty. Cracked double standard.

Slight setback

Things going on at work have caused us to push back the Bachelorette Shenanigans a couple of weeks.

Now we have something else to look forward to (this is me trying to be positive because we REALLY wanted to go this week).

Heroes in a half shell

I heart turtles. If you haven't noticed.

At the resort for thewedding they may have the baby turtle releasing program. Bestbridesmaidever Dennis called and it turns out that we may get to participate when we are there. FUN

Oh and this is Winston. He guards my office from evil.

March Resolution Update

Resolution update... a little lame this month, but April's update is already shaping up to be interesting.

Tried sake for the first time. Purple Haze (sake and Chambord) warm - not bad, a little odd, makes you warm on the inside.

Woke up at the crack of dawn one Saturday to volunteer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Neat group, never have done anything with them but sure to do so again.

Went to a Bowling Shower for my friend that is getting married this month. Random fun times - quite perfect for a co-ed group that likes beer and doesn't know each other really well.

Went to a wedding with no booze. That's a first. Good time still had by all, had some beer before (Dennis peed in the church parking lot) and some margaritas after.

That's about it for March -- stay tuned for some rediculousness for April
